"Deep cleaning" usually gets described as a more thorough clean. That is true, but it is not much help when you are deciding whether your home needs one. Here is what a professional deep cleaning actually covers, and why each part matters.
It starts with everything in a regular cleaning
At WellMaid, every Deep Cleaning includes our complete Regular Cleaning checklist. Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living areas are cleaned room by room: countertops, sinks, appliance exteriors, mirrors, toilets, tubs, floors, and every accessible surface.
The difference is what happens on top of that.
Fixtures and high places
Dust collects wherever nobody looks up. A deep cleaning gives detailed attention to:
- Ceiling fan blades
- Light fixtures
- Blinds and shutters
- Lamps and lampshades
These are the surfaces that quietly send dust back into the room every time a fan turns on or a blind is adjusted.
Trim, doors, and the details
A routine visit dusts baseboards and moldings. A deep cleaning works through them in detail, along with:
- Moldings, woodwork, and window sills
- Baseboards
- Doors
- Light switch plates
- Pictures and decorative items
- Furniture
Switch plates and door edges are touched every day, and it shows. Window sills collect dust and pollen, especially during a Richmond spring.
Kitchen and bathrooms
These are the rooms where buildup forms fastest: grease near the stove, soap scum and mineral deposits in the shower. A deep cleaning puts extra focus on:
- The stovetop
- Cabinet fronts
- Countertops and backsplashes
- Mirrors
- Tub and shower tiles
- Wastebaskets
Floors, stairs, and soft surfaces
- Stairs
- Floors
- Carpet crevices
- Couches vacuumed
- Beds made
Carpet edges and the corners of each stair are where everyday vacuuming falls short. A deep cleaning takes the time to reach them.
Windows and porch
Interior windows and the porch are part of a WellMaid Deep Cleaning too.
What is available as an add-on
A few areas take enough extra time that they are offered separately, so you only pay for what your home needs:
- Inside the oven: $40
- Inside the refrigerator: $40
- Inside cabinets: $60 to $100, depending on size and condition
Add-ons are requested when you book, and prices can vary with the size and condition of the area.
What a deep cleaning does not include
For safety, cleaning teams do not move heavy furniture or appliances, climb on counters or unstable surfaces, or handle hazardous materials. Extension tools are used to reach high areas whenever possible, and if something cannot be cleaned safely, you will be told rather than having the team take a risk. The full details are in our Customer Guidelines.
When it makes sense
A deep cleaning is the right starting point when buildup has settled into the details: before your first regular cleaning, after a busy season, or when a home has gone a while without professional attention. Once that reset is done, regular cleaning keeps it there. If you are weighing the two, our guide to Regular Cleaning vs. Deep Cleaning walks through the difference.
